When you are part of a loving and caring family, the idea that ‘happiness is homemade’ is pretty much taken for granted.
For some families in Cheshire East, this is however, sadly not the case. In such situations, it is the role of the foster carers to deliver the happiness that can be missing from the family home.
Our ‘Fostering Brings Joy’ campaign, was designed to raise the numbers of people enquiring about fostering by showing the emotional rewards to be gained by fosterers and the children in their care. It was a big ask (the budget wasn’t bottomless), but we were convinced a comprehensive multichannel campaign was needed to maximise potential exposure to our target audience.
So we pulled in favours and beg-stole-or-borrowed time and services from our network of suppliers to produce a campaign that can be heard on the radio, read about in the press, seen on the streets and even in schools.
Everyone likes to see a growth in market share or a big percentage leap in sales figures. But, by increasing the number of people enquiring about becoming foster parents by 500% in 2010 alone, we have helped – along with Cheshire East Council’s other activities – to give vulnerable children a loving and nurturing home for as long as needed. And that feels good too.
