Open Book

Let’s open up the vault and have a look at exactly what we did
when real clients came to us with real-world commercial problems.

Client: Cogent Sector Skills Council
Industry: Public Sector

Sometimes it’s not who you know, but what you know. That’s why Cogent – the sector skills council for the chemical, pharmaceuticals, nuclear, oil and gas, petroleum and polymers industries – wanted to know what those sectors thought of them as a company and how they honestly rated their service offerings.

We took on the brief to undertake this research project. And made a note that, as an important footnote, Cogent also wanted to use this interaction to develop and grow industry contacts by 25% and demonstrably increase awareness of Cogent by 20%. This wasn’t even killing two birds with one stone…it was four at least.

Now, the key to success in this job wasn’t in the talking – but the listening. So we took time to really get to the bottom of what Cogent wanted. And we really analysed the answers rather than simply collating the information.

The result? After interviewing 400 northern-based companies and presenting our recommendations, both project targets were not just hit…they were smashed. Which led Mervin Dadd, Director of Marketing and Communications for Cogent to comment; “Les and his team built our database from scratch…they’re our first port of call when we want any fresh feedback or data…(and)…their wealth of experience in tele-research and tele-marketing has consistently delivered results.”
